LUMUT – Lumut Maritime Terminal Sdn Bhd (LMTSB), the owner/operator of Lumut Maritime Terminal (Lumut Port) and operator of Lekir Bulk Terminal, expects a healthy and sustainable growth this year despite operating in a challenging business environment.
LMTSB will continue to provide and maintain its efficient and provide top-notch services at competitive cost to its clients. Lumut Port handles close to 411 vessels & barge calls per year and with the current berths, the port can handle up to 3.5 million tonnage. LMTSB’s 2016-2020 Business Strategic Plan poised to achieve up to 90% incremental in port capacity for Lumut Port.
LMTSB, a subsidiary of Perak Corporation Berhad (PERAK CORP) with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) as their share partner, has managed to generate and boost the state’s economy particularly in the Manjung district.
LMTSB is embarking on a 5-year Business and Strategic Plan to transform into a more efficient and dynamic port. This calls for a capital expenditure costing more than RM200 million which involves adding additional barge berth, wharf extension and integrated Port Management System. With the implementation of the expansion port under the five years business and strategic plan, Lumut Port would compete in a totally different field. Lumut Port is projecting a healthier and a continued sustainable growth in the coming years.
“With the strong support from Lumut Port’s existing customers as well as new acquired customers, we are confident that Lumut Port is on track to a significant growth”, said Mubarak Ali bin Gulam Rasul, Chief Executive Officer of Lumut Port during the 20th Anniversary celebration held at the Lumut Port Industrial Park, Kg Acheh, Lumut.
The 20th Anniversary celebration and the ground breaking ceremony for the expansion was officiated by YAB Dato’ Seri DiRaja Dr Zambry Bin Abd Kadir, Chief Minister of Perak in the presence of the State dignitaries together with the board members of PKNP, PERAK CORP, TNB, Integrax, Lumut Port and invited guests.
