BANDAR MERU RAYA – Casuarina Convention Centre, Hotel Casuarina@Meru, Ipoh have been selected as Vaccination Administration Centre (PPV) under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI)-led Public Private Partnership COVID-19 Industry Immunisation Program (PIKAS) which has begun the vaccination process for manufacturing workers in Perak which started operating 3 days ago. This initiative is in line with the Malaysian government’s goal to increase the rate of vaccination among industry players and to reduce the number of workplace clusters due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
YAB Dato’ Haji Saarani bin Mohamed; Chief Minister of Perak visited the Casuarina Convention Centre PPV today together with YB Dato’ Ahmad Suaidi bin Abdul Rahim; Perak State Secretary, Dato’ Shahrul Zaman bin Datuk Yahya; Chairman of the Perak State Corridor Industry, Investment and Development Committee, Mrs Rosazliza binti Azman; Director of MITI Perak and Dato’ Rumaizi bin Baharin; Mayor of Ipoh, Tuan Haji Meor Hezbullah bin Meor Abd Malik; Kinta District Officer, Datuk Redza Rafiq bin Abdul Razak; Chief Executive of Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak (PKNPk) and Mr Zainal Iskandar bin Ismail; Group Chief Executive Officer of Perak Corporation Berhad (Perak Corp).
For the initial implementation, Malaysia’s COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) has targeted to administer 16,000 people to be vaccinated particularly in Kinta, Batu Gajah and Kampar under this PIKAS initiative. Casuarina Convention Centre PPV have the capacity to administer up to 1,800 doses of vaccine a day but currently the PPV is limiting to 1,000 doses a day.
During a press conference, YAB Dato’ Haji Saarani bin Mohamed; Chief Minister of Perak congratulate Hotel Casuarina@Meru, a group company of Perak Corp for being selected as the PPV for PIKAS. He acknowledged that Casuarina Convention Centre as a PPV, are more than prepared with all the facilities provided and able to give a pleasant experience during the vaccination process. Hotel Casuarina@Meru also provide ample parking spots for people who drove to the PPV. He also encouraged more companies to take this opportunity to register with PIKAS and participate in this program to ensure more people are vaccinated. Employers should provide a safe working environment to curb the spread of COVID-19 while adhering to all SOPs and practicing the necessary safety measures.
